5 Budget Beaches around the World

These beach destinations should be at the top of any budget traveller’s list:

  1. Bali, Indonesia

Surrounded by lush jungles, Bali’s immaculate beaches may look expensive, but you can actually get the best bang for your buck in Indonesia. Plan ahead for the cost of the flight, which is typically the priciest part of going abroad.

Once you’re there, however, you can find great hotels as cheap as $40 a night or less. Meals are even cheaper, with casual ones averaging at about $3. Check out world-renowned Balangan Beach for some amazing surfing and incomparable views from towering cliffs!

  1. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is postcard-perfect with its tall palm trees, gorgeous white sand beaches, and turquoise waters. Yet this is one seaside retreat that won’t break the bank.

One US dollar is equal to 50 Dominican pesos, so you can do a lot with your travel budget. Punta Cana is home to more than 15 nature parks just waiting to be explored, and it also has a booming party scene if nightlife is more your thing.

  1. Polish Riviera, Poland

Most people won’t think of Poland when talking about the beach, but somewhere along the Baltic shores is a hidden gem. Places like Gdynia, Gdansk, Sopot are popular tourist spots for Europeans looking for seaside getaways.

Expect to pay around $65 a night for hotels in Ustka, but if you’re not particular about where to stay, dorm rooms can set you back only $20 a night. Food and beverages are cheap as well, and even the poshest restaurants by the beach generally charge just around $16 for an entrée, and it’s much lower for casual fare.

  1. Halkidiki, Greece

Another European beach destination that’s easy on the pocket is the Halkidiki area in Greece. It’s a great alternative to pricier French or Italian beaches, but no less beautiful.

To get the best discounts, try to travel by March or April and book somewhere in the Haldiki area, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Thassos islands. You’ll find plenty of affordable, basic studio-type rooms in these places, priced as little as $15 per head. Save even more with budget dining and feast on $5 gyros, or have a $15 dollar meal in a local taverna.

  1. Panama, Central America

Central America’s hidden gem, Panama, is 30% cheaper than its more popular cousin, Costa Rica. Panama has stretches of coastlines along the North Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and you’ll be greeted by sandy beaches and water so clear, you can see straight to the corals and ocean floor below.

Try to visit Bocas del Toro, a beach town in Colon Island. Accommodations can run as low as $25 a night, and you can eat like a king for just $5 on average for meals in Panamanian restaurants.

Get Ready for Some Fun by the Ocean!

From Europe to Asia, there are numerous budget beach getaways just waiting to be discovered. To make the most out of your hard-earned money and vacation, make sure to do your research ahead of time.
